Lit Fridays is a literary-focused, virtual salon presented by the August Wilson African American Cultural Center, featuring conversations and guest performances on the last Friday of each month at 6:00p EST via Facebook Live and Zoom Webinar. All conversations are moderated by AWAACC Literary Curator, Jessica Lanay.
Micaiah Johnson was raised in California’s Mojave Desert surrounded by trees named Joshua and women who told stories. She received her bachelor of arts in creative writing from the University of California, Riverside, and her master of fine arts in fiction from Rutgers University–Camden. Her work has been recommended by NPR, The New York Times, and Bookriot. She is the 2021 Compton Crook Award winner, and a nominee for the 2021 Astounding Award for Best New Writer. She currently studies American literature at Vanderbilt University, where she focuses on critical race theory and posthumanism.
