AWCommunity Day: Gingerbread House Pick-Up
December 5, 2020 @ 2:00 pm

The August Wilson African American Cultural Center (AAWAACC) and presenting sponsor and partners UPMC and UPMC Health Plan, invite you to join us at our virtual AWCommunity Day event, Home-Sweet-Home Together on December 12, 2020 from 11am-3pm.  This special edition of our annual holiday community day event will focus on the ties that bind us, and the importance of remaining safe by staying home together.  From a special Kwanzaa observance to a cookie decorating demonstration—this fun day of activities will have something that the entire family can enjoy.

Family time is special and unique in each family.  AWAACC will share Gingerbread house kits with interested families to participate in a friendly gingerbread house making competition.  Design and build your gingerbread home and to document your family time through photos taken during the building process and of the finished creation.  AWAACC staff, as well as other friends of the AWAACC will be participating in the fun by making their own gingerbread house creations. GET CREATIVE!  We will be joined by celebrity guest, former pro-football star, and Pittsburgh’s own, Charlie Batch, who will create a gingerbread house with his family to be shared during the community day event. We ask YOU to share your photos. All photos received will be posted and shared during the AWCommunity day and posted to the AWAACC website throughout the month of December.

Gingerbread kits available on first come, first serve basis.  Supply is limited.

Register to pick-up a gingerbread kit at participating locations and submit gingerbread house photos:
